FlashRestore Technology Is Being Added to vRanger Pro

Vizioncore’s flagship backup and restore product will sport FlashRestore by the end of the year. The technology makes backup images instantly available for use by applications.

Vizioncore Inc., a virtualization data protection and management solutions innovator in the channel, is making its FlashRestore technology available as an add-on to its flagship backup and restoration product vRanger Pro.

The technology will be available with vRanger Pro later this year, according to Vizioncore.FlashRestore Technology Is Being Added to vRanger Pro

FlashRestore makes VM backup images immediately available by booting them directly from the vRanger Pro backup repository.

The company says it will demonstrate the vRanger Pro with FlashRestore at VMworld in the Quest Software booths in San Francisco Aug. 30 to Sept. 2.

In many backup scenarios, recovery of entire VM images requires the entire VM disk file must be copied from the backup repository to the hypervisor system over the network. Depending on the size of the file and network traffic, the recovery process can take hours to complete. With the addition of FlashRestore technology for vRanger Pro, images are instantly available for use by applications.

Without any disruption in their use of the VM, end users can continue working, maintaining productivity while the VMDK file is relocated using VMware Storage VMotion from the backup repository.

“Modern business demands uptime over anything else,” says Mike Coffman, Quest Software’s vice president of virtualization management. “We are providing an advanced look at FlashRestore for vRanger Pro because it empowers IT to deliver … By bringing immediate restore technology to vRanger Pro image-based recovery, the impact of system outages on end-user productivity is dramatically reduced and the process of bringing systems back online is faster and more simplified than ever before.”

FlashRestore for vRanger Pro includes:

  • Integration with the vRanger Pro GUI console
  • GUI integration with VMware Storage VMotion for simplified use of vSphere
  • VM boot access
  • Storage VMotion
