Storage Guardian Rolls Out Asigra v10
The latest iteration of the company’s flagship online data backup product enables tiered backup and adds DS-Mobile support.
Online and cloud backup solutions provider Storage Guardian has upgraded its flagship Asigra.
According to Storage Guardian, the cloud backup storage is seeing version 10 now. With this latest release, the backup and recovery platform continues to provide protection for laptops, desktops, servers, data centers, and cloud computing environments, but also adds DS-Mobile support to backup laptops in the field.
Storage Guardian’s online data backup is built on the Asigra’s hybrid cloud deployment model. With Asigra v10, users can create tiered backup. Establishing policies for local backup sets enables IT to segment the data and choose what gets backed up locally on the private cloud. The local backup sets option enables companies to replace typical tape-based local backup with backup to a local disk-based private cloud.
New features offered in Storage Guardian’s latest online backup software include:
- DS-Mobile support to backup laptops in the field
- Tiered recovery (local-only backup to machines on customer’s premises, offsite backup to a service provider or private cloud)
- Deployment as a virtual appliance within virtual infrastructures
- Advanced FIPS 140-2 NIST-certified security and encryption of data
- New backup sets for protection of such applications as MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, MS SQL, Windows Server Hyper-V, Oracle SBT, and Sybase
A 30-day trial of Asigra v10 is available via the Storage Guardian Web site.
TIERED STORAGE
Along with the announcement of its latest Asigra product, Storage Guardian is circulating throughout the channel, a video outlining the benefits of its Tiered Storage strategy.
“With Tiered Storage,” the company contends, “you can easily configure when and how to archive older data to Storage Guardian’s less expensive long-term disk media.”
