Spiceworks Introduces Its ‘Reach’ Program
Developer uses the GigaOM Structure conference in San Francisco to roll out the new partner program for cloud-based services providers.
Spiceworks is best known for its free social IT management application that combines network management and help desk software in an online community of IT professionals.
Last week at the GigaOM Structure conference in San Francisco, Spiceworks rolled out its new Reach program for providers of cloud-based services.
The point of Reach is to provide cloud-based services providers access to IT pros using the Spiceworks network. In addition, the program includes integration APIs and services that enable vendors to make their cloud services manageable from within Spiceworks.
Spiceworks co-founder and CEO Scott Abel told Structure attendees that the Reach program will help cloud vendors reach 20 percent of the SMB IT professionals in the world. †”It’s a win for them [service providers] and for SMBs,” Abel says, “which represent one of the fastest growing markets for cloud computing services.”
According to Spiceworks, the Reach partner program includes a variety of ways for cloud services vendors to differentiate their offerings and distribute them to SMBs around the world.
The program’s three levels of participation include:
- Cloud Services Inventory and Monitoring—Basic account and service information for cloud service offerings
- Cloud Management Plug-Ins–Delivery vehicle for cloud services providers to employ custom plug-ins, giving users additional granular management and monitoring capabilities
- Cloud Service Distribution–Distributes management capabilities for cloud services by integrating the ability to add, manage, and monitor cloud services within the Spiceworks application
Early Spiceworks Reach program partners include Rackspace, HP and Symantec.
