Tripp Lite’s PowerAlert Now Fully Supports the Linux OS
Power management software now sports full USB communication protocols for Linux, compatible with compatible with Linux’s Fedora 8 and OpenSUSE 11.0.
Tripp Lite has released a new version of its PowerAlert power management software that includes full USB communications capability for the Linux operating system.
According to the power management innovator, PowerAlert has become “first power management software solution to offer USB communication protocols for Linux.”
In fact, in a press release to EH Publishing, Tripp Lite says it is “the first UPS manufacturer to offer Linux users a comprehensive power management software solution compatible with Tripp Lite HID-Power Device Compliant (PDC) UPS Systems.”
Indeed, the new version of PowerAlert is USB compatible with Linux’s Fedora 8 and OpenSUSE 11.0.
“Until now, Linux users dependent on USB communications have been limited to the system’s built-in power management tool,” explains Tripp Lite director of software development Mike Delgrosso. “This only allows for UPS shutdown under low battery conditions and does not provide any advanced power management features.”
Now, Delgrosso says, Tripp Lite UPS systems and PowerAlert enable Linux users to “have the capabilities they need to monitor power conditions and protect their mission-critical systems from power problems.”
Linux users can now employee such PowerAlert features as:
- Email notification
- SNMP trap notification
- UPS self-test procedures
- Script execution
Moreover, Tripp Lite PowerAlert power management software provides a range of solutions, including:
- PowerAlert Local for basic unattended shutdown
- PowerAlert Network Shutdown Agent, which monitors SNMP-enabled network devices and can safely shut down monitored computers
- PowerAlert Network Management System, which can monitor and control up to 250 SNMP-enabled UPS systems and PDUs
