Sage Introduces Payment Platform in a SaaS Model
Payment solutions developer says the new cloud-based offering will enable SMBs to accept all forms of payment and integrate data with other Sage products and third-party solutions.
Sage North America introduced Sage Exchange today. It’s a new secure, Payment Card Industry (PCI) certified payments platform delivered in a SaaS model.
Sage Exchange aims to enable SMBs to accept all forms and methods of payment, with data integration with other Sage business management software products and third-party business solutions.
Elements of Sage Exchange will be released in phases over the next several months. The initial phases will enable businesses and organizations using many Sage software products to accept credit and debit cards in a secure and Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) validated environment while automatically updating accounts receivable records.
Subsequent phases will expand payments integration to distributed credit/debit card and electronic check terminals, or point-of-sale (POS) devices, and a range of integrated payment solutions to the accounts payable side.
“Every business buys and sells goods or services,” says Greg Hammermaster, president of Sage Payment Solutions. “Sage Exchange will provide a robust platform to accept and make payments for those goods or services, while seamlessly accounting for and tracking those payments. Virtually any SMB can benefit.”
The first release of Sage Exchange will offer:
- Secure payments integration into such Sage software products as Peachtree, Simply Accounting, Sage ERP X3, Sage BusinessVision, Sage Pro ERP, and DacEasy as well as †Sage Fundraising 50, Sage Fundraising 100, Sage Millennium, Sage Fundraising 100–Rainbow Edition, Sage Intergy, and Timeslips by Sage
- Enhanced customer experience through the new Sage Exchange Virtual Terminal (or Web interface) with key-entered and “card swipe” capabilities that do not time out
- Improved security via new encrypted credit and debit card terminals
A subsequent release of Sage Exchange will connect to the following Sage software products: Sage Accpac ERP, Sage MAS 90 ERP, Sage MAS 200 ERP, Sage MAS 500 ERP, and Sage Medical Manager for electronic health records (EHR).
Sage says the platform will later support expanded payment functionality in the areas of payroll, procurement, and payables as well as seamlessly integrate with additional complementary business applications (although the company says some applications may initially be stand alone).
