Kerio Technologies is now offering Kerio Connect 7.2, a new release of the unified communications company’s messaging and collaboration platform. Kerio Connect provides email, contacts and calendar management through desktop email clients, Web browsers, and smartphones. This latest release is designed exclusively for SMBs with five to 500 seats.
As an alternative to Microsoft Exchange, Kerio Connect 7.2 is available on the iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry. It also works natively with the new Microsoft Outlook 2011, synchronizing email, calendar, contact, and tasks. Mac users can opt for Microsoft Entourage 2004 and 2008 or Apple Mail and iCal as well.
Kerio Connect 7.2 uses a new version of the CalDAV protocol, which controls calendar synchronization among various CalDAV clients. Other new advanced features include:
- Creating exceptions to recurring events, even between users with different calendaring applications
- Auto-accept feature tentatively schedules meeting requests in calendar even when user is offline
- Others can see free and potentially busy timeslots without waiting for the user to accept or decline meetings
- Email can be configured by IT managers with Web access and users can be added/deleted remotely
- Comprehensive email security, including anti-virus and anti-spam with a multi-layer defense system
Kerio Connect 7.2 runs on the Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, and is available as a virtual appliance on the VMware and Parallels platforms. Kerio Connect starts at $450 for five users, with additional users starting at $24 each.
