Active Media Products Launches SaberTooth Z4
The company is promoting the new 1.8-inch PATA ZIF SSDs a performance upgrade solution for notebooks.
SSD and USB manufacturer Active Media Products launched the SaberTooth Z4 line of consumer-grade 1.8-inch PATA ZIF SSDs last week. The company is pitching the product as a performance upgrade solution for many popular notebook models.
“We developed the SaberTooth Z4 series as a cost-effective upgrade solution for scores of laptop models using 1.8-inch ZIF drives,” says Jerry Thomson, Active Media Products’ vice president of sales.
The new SaberTooth Z4 SSDs support sequential read and write speeds of up to 80 MB/sec and 38 MB/sec respectively. The SaberTooth Z4 series delivers faster bootup, application load, and shutdown speeds compared to conventional PATA HDDs.
The SaberTooth Z4 was designed specifically for consumer and professional laptop upgrades. It measures 2.8 x 2.1 x 0.2 inches and uses an industry-standard PATA ZIF interface, making it interchangeable with standard 1.8-inch ZIF HDDs.
The Z4 uses MLC NAND Flash as the storage medium. It features garbage collection, wear leveling, and bad block management built into the firmware to maintain performance and reliability.
The Z4 is available in 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB capacities through Amazon or ActiveMP.com.
