Websense Unveils Its Latest Web Interface
The Websense Web Security Gateway Anywhere module enables MSPs and SMBs to employ some of the most recent threat and risk prevention and deployment capabilities.†
Websense Inc., a unified Web, data, and email security solutions provider, has announced the general availability of its Websense Web Security Gateway Anywhere product.
Websense Web Security Gateway Anywhere is a Web interface that provides some of the latest threat and risk prevention and deployment capabilities.†
The Websense Web Security Gateway Anywhere is part of the TRITONsystem, a unified content security architecture. Some of its features include:
- Data loss prevention (DLP) for the Web with TruWeb DLP
- Extensive coverage for applications and content types, including rich Internet applications, more than 7,500 Facebook applications, security-as-a-service †applications,†Phone Home, and others.
- On-premise deployment with the flexibility of a full security-as-a-service with TruHybrid deployment
- DLP and secure Web gateway system unified on virtualized appliances (including Websense V-series appliances), including the Websense V500 appliance
- Web gateway in a unified content security system under one management system, the TRITON console
The Websense Web Security Gateway Anywhere solution includes Websense data loss prevention technology embedded to prevent data loss through the Web.†TruWeb DLP offers Websense full DLP capabilities for Web channels, including SSL.
According to Websense, TruWeb DLP functionality is critical to “address compliance concerns and advanced persistent threats.”†
With just a few clicks from the administration console, Websense says, organizations can proactively enforce data policies to meet regulatory requirements, detect and protect sensitive information from leaving the company, and enable more than 1,200 policies through an intuitive policy wizard.†
“Modern businesses want to harness the power of new communication, collaboration, and Web 2.0 business tools,” explains Websense CEO Gene Hodges, “but they also want to be protected from advanced persistent threats that are so pervasive.”
The Websense Security Gateway Anywhere, Hodges says, delivers modern security to fight today’s threats at “the lowest total cost of ownership.”
“By enabling our Web security and Web DLP to be deployed both on-premise and as security-as-a-service from one single management console,” Hodges adds, “we’re making it easier for our customers to leverage the Web-based tools that they need for their business, while protecting their essential information.”
Along with the many advancements in content detection and threat prevention capabilities, Websense says the hybrid deployment capabilities increase solution coverage options while reducing cost and complexity.†”The TruHybrid functionality allows organizations to deploy Websense both on-premise and in the cloud,” states the company in a press release it submitted to EH Publishing. “This reduces time, complexity, and the overhead and cost of administering disparate systems. It also ensures that security policies are enforced uniformly throughout the organization, protecting from the most advanced blended attacks.”
V-Series Appliances
In addition to the new Web Security Gateway Anywhere TruHybrid, Websense is also announcing the expansion of its V-Series appliances with the addition of the new†Websense V5000 appliance. This, says the company, is for SMB deployments in which on-premise solution deployment is required.†
A scaled version of the larger V10000 appliance, the V5000 provides another option for customers of all sizes to take advantage of the Advanced Categorization Engine and the TRITON architecture to reduce complexity and IT footprint
According to Websense, the company has experienced “explosive growth in the field,” with more than 1000 V-series units sold in the first seven months of release. Both the Websense Web Security Gateway and V10000 play into that trend. Both are currently available for deployment.
The Websense V5000 will be available to qualified organizations as part of an early adopter program. The plan is for it to reach full general availability for upgrade and purchase in June 2010.
