Active Media Launches a New External SATA Flash Drive

The mobile storage device comes in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities and boasts sequential read and write speeds up to 100 and 55 MB per second, respectively.

Active Media Products has a new external SATA (eSATA) Flash drive. According to the company, the new mobile storage device, which comes in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities, boasts sequential read and write speeds up to 100 and 55 MB per second respectively, which is about three times faster than the fastest USB 2.0 flash drives. Active Media Spotlights a New External SATA Flash Drive

Active Media Products builds these drives with either 16 GB or 32 GB of MLC NAND flash. With no moving parts, they offer the much the same reliability as SSDs. Because many computers do not have an eSATA port, these drives also feature a Mini USB 2.0 port, so they can be used in virtually any PC or desktop.

“There are millions of laptops out there with eSATA ports that can take advantage of this performance,” explains Jerry Thomson, vice president of sales for Active Media. “eSATA flash drives are a great storage solution for people who need faster transfer speeds than USB 2.0 can offer, yet still need the portability of a USB flash drive

MSRP for the 16 GB eSATA is $69.95. MSRP for the 32 GB eSATA is $109.95.

These drives come in a gloss black polymer case that measures only 3.1 x 1.1 x 0.4 inches. They are available now worldwide through Amazon.
