Kofax Express Gets v2 Update
Scan-to-archive image document software sees improved sharing and integration features.
Kofax plc has released a new version of its Kofax Express all-in-one, scan-to-archive software package for image capture applications.
Kofax is a company that focuses on business process automation solutions, especially those revolving around document archiving. Its Kofax Express product is a document scanning software that facilitates storage of data after digitization.
Release 2.0 of Kofax Express, says its maker, marks an improvement to the software in a number of capacities
Some of the latest features of the Kofax Express software include:
- FolderScan–Release 2.0 optimizes the FolderScan function, which enables automatic import of image files (TIFF, PDF, JPG, and BMP) from a folder directly into Kofax Express. This facilitates better capturing from such sources as MFPs, fax servers, and saved images.
- Improved PDF Support–Now supporting both PDF and PDF/A formats, Kofax Express 2.0 steps up the compression capability, maintaining clear images even when delivered in files sizes associated with black and white images. The software upgrade also extends its OCR (optical character recognition) technology to searchable PDF capabilities, enabling users to more easily and accurately search for data within saved PDF documents.
- Advanced Database Support–Kofax Express 2.0 offers advanced database support capabilities, too. One such capability enables it to connect to any ODBC (open database connectivity)-compliant repositories (such as Microsoft Access, SQL Server, or Oracle) to look up and then populate an index field value. Another is an export API that enables the creation of customized export connectors to virtually any repository.
Kofax vice president of products Jim Nicol says the latest v2 release of comes as demand for product is at a peak. “Demand for Kofax Express continues to accelerate, especially among SMBs,” he says. “This release strengthens the software, enabling customers to scan and archive documents more quickly and at lower costs.”
