Tripp Lite Intros VGA-over-Cat5 Extenders
Now monitors can be placed 500-plus feet from the source.
Chicago-based Tripp Lite has introduced two new VGA-over-Cat5 extenders that the company says provide cost-effective video and audio distribution over long distances with no compromise of picture or sound quality. Model B130-101 is said to extend a VGA video signal up to 500 feet from the source, while model B130-101A extends both video and audio. Maximum range is extendible to 1,000 feet using Tripp Lite’s low-skew Cat5 patch cable.
The extenders can be used in a range of applications including retail locations, classrooms, houses of worship, transportation hubs, conference centers, and high-quality digital signage.
Key features and benefits include:
- Integrate with existing infrastructure and equipment
- Use efficient, inexpensive Cat5 cabling
- Support video resolutions up to 1920 x 1440
- Compatible with VGA, SVGA, XGA, UXGA and WUXGA
- Assure clear picture with equalization and gain adjustment screws
- Connections for optional local monitor and speakers
“Our VGA-over-Cat5 extenders are perfect for video distribution applications, including high-quality digital signage,” says David Posner, Tripp Lite Cables and Connectivity product manager. “They make it easy to provide high-resolution content over long distances while keeping the source completely secure and hidden from view. By taking advantage of existing infrastructure, equipment, and expertise, these extenders offer significant savings compared with the expense and inconvenience of implementing a proprietary video distribution or kiosk solution.”
