Continuum Adds Webroot DNS Security Software to Managed Security Platform

Under an expanded alliance agreement between the two vendors, Continuum partners can now purchase Webroot’s SecureAnywhere DNS Protection solution from inside Continuum’s RMM platform, and use the system at no extra cost.

Continuum has made DNS security software from Webroot Inc. an integrated component of its managed security offering.

Under the new pact between the two companies, which expands an existing alliance relationship, users of Boston-based Continuum’s Profile & Protect solution can now purchase and manage Webroot SecureAnywhere DNS Protection deployments from inside Continuum’s RMM platform, and utilize the software at no extra cost on any device they secure.

“The greatest opportunity for our MSP partners is in the area of security,” said Fielder Hiss, vice president of product at Continuum, in prepared remarks. “To take advantage of this opportunity and scale their businesses, they need products and services that allow them to deliver the protection their end-clients demand. That’s what Continuum brings to its MSP partners, and Webroot’s products work seamlessly with our model. Their easy-to-deploy solutions are comprehensive, lightweight and integrated, and our expanded partnership with Webroot further enables Continuum partners to grow their businesses profitably and securely, all with the aim to provide the best possible service to their SMB clients.”

Drawing on on real-time data from Webroot’s BrightCloud Threat Intelligence service, SecureAnywhere DNS Protection blocks end users from browsing to infected or risky websites, including those offering adult content and bandwidth-draining streaming media. Webroot, which is headquartered in Broomfield, Colo., introduced the system last February, added functionality for securing guest Wi-Fi networks a year later, and tacked on new granular policy controls in May.

“Protection at the DNS layer is one of the simplest and most effective ways for businesses to reduce their overall risk posture and prevent threats before they enter the network,” said Charlie Tomeo, Webroot’s vice president of worldwide business sales, in a press statement. “Through our expanded partnership with Continuum, we are removing the friction from the buying and provisioning process for MSPs, making the easiest-to-implement DNS solution even easier.”

Continuum previewed its Continuum Security portfolio last September and officially launched it in June. In addition to Profile & Protect, which provides centralized oversight of vulnerability scanning, anti-virus, firewall, and other security service from Continuum itself and third-party suppliers, the product family includes two other solutions. Detect & Respond—Endpoint, employs threat detection and response technology that Continuum acquired along with security vendor CARVIR to identify and remediate attacks on desktops, laptops, and servers. Detect & Respond—Network & Compliance, meanwhile, employs CARVIR’s SIEM product to identify and remediate attacks within networks.

Arming partners to sell Continuum Security is a top priority at present for Continuum, which added compliance management functionality and Office 365 protection to the platform two months ago.
