As part of its ongoing workplace transformation initiative, Intel announced availability of its new 6th Generation Intel Core vPro processor family, plus associated solutions aimed at increasing workplace security, productivity, and efficiency.

Resellers affiliated with distributor Ingram Micro Inc., of Santa Ana, California, can now offer their customers cloud-based, big data-powered mobile security software from Lookout Inc. Under an agreement announced yesterday, Ingram Micro partners have immediate access to Lookout’s Mobile Threat Protection solution, with additional Lookout products to follow in the future.

The BDR vendor aims to expand internationally and significantly increase its product portfolio, while remaining committed to current partners and solutions.

Though wearables, car automation, and the Internet of Things grabbed much of the spotlight at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, there were plenty of announcements relevant to the SMB channel too. Here’s a mere sampling of the most significant:

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud services division of mammoth parent company Amazon.com Inc., today announced general availability of its Amazon WorkMail email and calendaring solution in the US West, US East, and Europe regions.

Partner Optimizer, for vendors with large partner channels, scans partner websites for information about product offerings, certification, partnerships, and more, and puts it in a file vendors can upload to their CRM systems.

Channel pros debated building their own cloud and user-based managed service pricing, while LabTech Software celebrated its good fortune on the heels of this summer’s RMM mergers and acquisitions.
