Veeam Business View Update Adds CMDB Capabilities

Version 2.0 enables SMBs to manage virtual environments, including configuration management database integration.

Version 2.0 enables SMBs to manage virtual environments, including configuration management database integration.

Veeam Software has released Veeam Business View 2.0. The software enables SMBs to manage virtual environments based on business criteria and priorities, such as service-level agreements, business units, and geographic locations.

Veeam Business View Update Adds CMDB CapabilitiesVeeam Software, which also created VMware data protection, disaster recovery, and VMware management solutions for virtual datacenter environments, says the latest iteration of Business View enables configuration management database (CMDB) integration. It also offers expanded categorization capabilities and dynamic groups.

“CMDB integration is a feature frequently requested by our customers who want to extend the best practice of a CMDB to their virtual infrastructure,” says Anton Gostev, Veeam Software’s director of product management. “They can now synchronize object categorization from CMDBs and other third-party applications, such as Microsoft Active Directory, thus simplifying the process of bringing an established business perspective to the monitoring and management of their virtual environments.”

Veeam Business View 2.0 is part of Veeam ONE, which is a single solution to optimize the performance, configuration, and utilization of virtual infrastructures. Veeam ONE provides monitoring, capacity planning, change management, reporting, and chargeback

Other key enhancements in Veeam Business View 2.0 include:

  • Expanded Categorization–Broadened ability to categorize VMs as well as clusters, hosts, and data stores. In addition to object names and infrastructure locations, rules can now also be based on object properties, such as host CPU clock rate and memory size, data store file system type, and VM vCPU usage.
  • Dynamic groups–Automatic creation and maintenance of groups and group membership to reduce administrative overhead.

Veeam Business View 2.0 is free and available immediate download.
