Networking hardware manufacturer TRENDnet has announced the availability of a 16-Port 10/100Mbps PoE Switch (Model TPE-S160). This unmanaged PoE switch is designed to reduce equipment and installation costs by delivering data and power over existing Ethernet cables to Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled devices, like access points and IP cameras.
SMBs can boost office efficiency and reduce network congestion with the switch’s capacity of 3.2 Gbps, which is generated by sixteen 10/100Mbps Full Duplex PoE ports.
The rack mountable switch comes in a sturdy metal housing. LED indicators on the front of the switch display device enable power management and troubleshooting. An internal power supply reduces clutter and delivers 15.4 Watts to each PoE port.
Non-PoE devices can also connect to the switch, and auto-sensing PoE technology cuts power to non-PoE connected devices. SMBs can use TRENDnet’s PoE Splitter (model TPE-112GS) with the TPE-S160 to install non-PoE devices in remote locations.
“Network administrators are discovering the advantages and cost savings of PoE installations,” says Zak Wood, TRENDnet’s director of global marketing. “The TPE-S160 complements TRENDnet’s broad product portfolio of over 15 PoE solutions.”
The 16-Port 10/100Mbps PoE Switch, model TPE-S160, is currently shipping to online and retail partners. It carries a MSRP of $449.
