Retrospect, Inc. Announces Subscription Licensing Starting at $5 per Month and Hosted Management Console with New Product Update

Windows Server 2019, Ubuntu 18.04, and macOS Mojave Certified in Latest Release

Retrospect, Inc., makers of award-winning Retrospect Backup & Recovery software, has announced the availability of Retrospect Backup 15.5. The latest version of Retrospect’s data protection suite will support subscription licensing for its consumer editions: Retrospect Solo for $5 per month and Retrospect Desktop for $15 per month, starting in late September. Also included in the product release is early access to Retrospect Management Console– a new hosted application for managing multiple Retrospect installations- and a host of enhancements and certifications.

Subscription Licensing

Retrospect, Inc. launched Retrospect Backup Solo in March 2018 to ensure every computer, external hard drive, and email account could be protected with the same enterprise-level features that businesses utilize. Starting this month, Retrospect Backup is even more affordable with subscription-based pricing. Retrospect’s consumer editions–Retrospect Solo and Retrospect Desktop–will be available in late September as a monthly or yearly subscription. Subscriptions include support and all product updates while the subscription is active. Data is never held hostage, and products with inactive subscriptions are always able to restore their backups.

Subscription pricing is a common request from businesses interested in migrating IT infrastructure from capital expenses to operating expenses. Retrospect’s server editions will be available as subscriptions in select markets later this year.

Retrospect Management Console

Businesses need complete visibility into their IT environment. Retrospect Backup enables customers to protect hundreds of machines with one engine, and now with Retrospect Management Console, businesses will be able to monitor their backup infrastructure on our hosted service. With Management Console, IT admins can monitor dozens of backup engines with a single interface and view it remotely, even on their phone. Management Console leverages the same data hooks that are available in Retrospect Backup dashboard to provide a consistent, scalable interface for displaying one, ten, or a hundred backup engines on a single screen.

Managed service providers and resellers need another level of data aggregation and analytics for ensuring the IT infrastructure for their entire customer base. With Retrospect Management Console, they will be able to monitor all of the engines across their clients in a single view, with clear notifications of which customer and computer are experiencing data protection issues.

Retrospect Management Console is in public beta and currently available at no cost.

System Update Certifications

Thousands of homes and businesses across the world depend on Retrospect to protect their essential data. With the latest release of Retrospect for Windows and Retrospect for Mac, customers are now protected on the latest system updates:

Product Enhancements

Along with system update certifications, Retrospect for Windows and Retrospect for Mac now include the following new features:

  • Storage Groups Preview: Protect your environment up to 16x faster with a single, centralized destination for Retrospect to use simultaneously. Available now as a preview.
  • Email Global Deduplication: Retrospect only backs up the email once, even if it was sent to a list, and customers back up multiple accounts with the same message.

  • Email Protection for Dovecot: Protect your Dovecot IMAP email server with Retrospect Email Protection.
