Nasuni, a next-generation enterprise storage provider, has added multi-site access to its Data Continuity Services. Multi-site access will give organizations the ability to work on a single set of shared data, regardless of the number of locations. With these new capabilities, Nasuni has created a controller architecture that allows multiple storage controllers to have live access to the same volume of snapshots. This new feature will be available immediately to all Data Continuity subscribers.
To enable multi-site access, customers need to deploy either the Nasuni virtual appliance or one of Nasuni’s new hardware options at each site. Thin-provisioning allows the local storage footprint of each of the appliances to be smaller than that of the complete set of data being shared through the services. The Nasuni services capture an encrypted snapshot of the file system at frequent, regular intervals, and the most commonly accessed files are stored locally to provide optimal performance.
End users can roll back to an earlier version of a file, directory, or the complete file system altogether, at any time. This multi-site access capability gives users the ability to distribute data securely to remote offices/branch offices, forward data from a remote office to a central point, and also do a two way synchronized read write.
