NVIDIA Rolls Out Tesla K20 GPU Accelerators

The K20 line is based on NVIDIA’s Kepler compute architecture and features the K20X accelerator for application acceleration.

Graphics innovator NVIDIA has announced its Tesla K20 family of GPU accelerators. The company is touting the line as “the highest performance, most efficient accelerators ever built.” Based on the NVIDIA Kepler compute architecture, the new Tesla K20 family features the Tesla K20X accelerator.

In an NVIDIA press release submitted to ChannelPro-SMB, the K20X is designed to provide application acceleration, especially when paired with leading CPUs. “It surpasses all other processors on two common measures of computational performance,” the company states, “namely 3.95 teraflops single-precision and 1.31 teraflops double-precision peak floating point performance.”

The new family also includes the Tesla K20 accelerator, which provides 3.52 teraflops of single-precision and 1.17 teraflops of double-precision peak performance. †

The Tesla K20X GPU accelerator delivers three times higher energy efficiency than previous-generation GPU accelerators, the NVIDIA statement claims. “The Tesla K20 family accelerates the broadest range of scientific, engineering and commercial high performance computing and data center applications,” the company states.

The NVIDIA Tesla K20 family of GPU accelerators is shipping immediately and available for order via NVIDIA reseller partners and such server manufacturers as Appro, ASUS, Cray, Eurotech, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, Quanta Computer, SGI, Supermicro, T-Platforms, and Tyan.
