Pano System Sees Version Upgrade

Windows 7 and VMware integrations are key new developments, along with increased end-user abilities and management tools.

Pano Logic, a zero-client desktop virtualization innovator, announced Pano System 3.0 this month. It’s a major update release for the company, with support for Windows 7 and closer integration with VMware View.
Pano System Sees Version Upgrade

The aim of the Pano System is a zero-client alternative to PCs and thin clients. The upgraded version of this system comes as many SMBs prepare for the operating refresh likely with Windows 7.

According to Pano Logic, the latest iteration of Pano System “enhances the end-user computing experience” with new controls over virtual desktops and simpler, centralized administration for IT managers.

VMware View Integration
Closer integration with VMware View Manager from within Pano System 3.0 enables a single console for managing virtual desktop deployments as well as infrastructures comprising both Pano Logic virtual desktops and PCs or thin clients.

Pano Logic CEO John Kish says his company is “dedicated” to extending its VMware integration. Moreover, he says SMBs are increasingly turning to the zero-client virtual desktop as opposed to PCs and thin clients. “As businesses continue their migration to zero clients,” he says, “we will continue to provide them the platform for their needs.”

Windows 7, End-User Control & Admin Management
According to Pano Logic, the new 3.0 version of Pano Systems supports Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional, and Ultimate editions with no change in price. In a recent press release to EH Publishing, the latest version “enables individuals to maintain both a Windows 7 and an XP desktop.”

In terms of end-use control, Pano Systems 3.0 enables users to reboot their virtual machines as well as lock their desktop and access a new one in the event of a problem. For IT managers, this is good because it enables users to preserve the original VM for examination and diagnosis in the event of problems.
