Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad X1 laptop, designed for mobile employees who are also seeking performance and multimedia capabilities. According to Dilip Bhatia, vice president of the Think Product Group at Lenovo, the laptop delivers enterprise-level security, manageability, and durability while also offering consumer multimedia and entertainment features.
For SMB customers with “road warriors” or employees constantly on the go, the ThinkPad x1 also passes eight military specifications based on durability, including exposure to humidity and dust. Customers can rest assured that their employees’ computers can be taken anywhere and maintain reliability.
“There’s a consumerization of IT happening,” says Jason Parrish, worldwide product manager for the ThinkPad line at Lenovo. “[This product] delivers enterprise-class features, but also looks at consumerization in the marketplace and addresses those needs as well.”
The thinnest ThinkPad available, the X1 measures 16 mm – or the height of a U.S. penny. The ThinkPad includes the choice of second-generation Intel Core i3, i5, and I7 processors to double CPU performance and quadruple graphics performance of the previous Lenovo model. At only 3.7 pounds, the ThinkPad X1 is sturdy with an interior roll cage and magnesium chassis. Other features include:
- 13.3-inch infinity LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass screen for extra durability and scratch resistance
- RapidCharge battery technology – charges up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes (2.5x faster than typical ThinkPad battery)
- 1,000 cycle battery designed to last three years
- Modernized keyboard appearance, including keyboard backlight and spill resistance
- Dolby Home Theater v4 sound and 350 NIT high-definition display
- HDMI port and Intel Wireless Display technology allows for 1080p wireless streaming
- 720p camera for video calls
- Intel vPro technology for security, as well as encrypted hard drives and a fingerprint reader
- Lenovo Enhanced Experience 2.0 for Windows 7, allowing users to start the laptop 20 seconds faster than other traditional Windows 7 computers
