The new options are designed to make selling the vendor’s virtual machine backup solution easier for MSPs.

It doesn’t exist as a shipping product yet, anyway. An experimental virtual desktop infrastructure system demoed at Datto’s annual North American partner conference this week has attendees buzzing with interest though.

A new edition of the vendor’s hosted workspace solution allows users to connect natively to a Microsoft Windows desktop without the need for connection brokers or other third-party components.

Called Project Domination and targeted at members of Microsoft’s soon-to-be-retired Online Services Advisor program, the campaign offers up to 90 days of free Office 365 service, plus free support.

When fully in place, the enhancements will enable MSPs to reboot hardware at customer sites remotely and manage Datto’s access points, switches, and networking appliances through the same tools they use to administer other devices.

At its annual North American partner event this morning, the BDR vendor unveiled an all-new cloud backup platform, multiple additions to its all-flash SIRIS 3 X appliance family, and a new release of its ALTO small business backup device.

The new 24/7/365 monitoring and management professional services aim to simplify security and data protection.

The new release allows MSPs to host the system, which provides everything needed to build and run complete SMB networks, in the public cloud as well as on Adar’s own private cloud.

Based on a hardware subscription plan introduced last year, the distributor’s new “technology as a service” offering lets resellers charge end users for devices, cloud-based solutions, and managed services on a single recurring bill.

The new Acronis Backup 12.5 includes a host of additional enhancements, and is the first release to come in both standard and advanced editions.
