This guide walks you through setting up and managing the CyberHoot–IT Glue integration using the CyberHoot Autopilot Platform. Once connected, CyberHoot publishes a CyberHoot documentation asset to each mapped organization in IT Glue, showing that tenant’s training and compliance status, and refreshes it every night.
What the integration does:
- Documentation: on connect, CyberHoot creates a CyberHoot flexible asset type in IT Glue. Each mapped organization then receives one CyberHoot asset with these fields: Tenant, Tenant URL, Active Users, Compliant Users, Compliance Percent and Last Synced.
- One-way publishing: nothing is read into CyberHoot from IT Glue. CyberHoot never touches any other documentation in your IT Glue account.
- Schedule: publishing runs automatically once a day, around 12:30am in your deployment’s time zone. You can also run it on demand with Publish Now.
1. Create API credentials in IT Glue:
CyberHoot needs API credentials to talk to your IT Glue account. Create them in IT Glue first, then bring them to CyberHoot.
- In IT Glue, go to Account > Settings > API Keys. (API access requires an IT Glue plan that includes the API.)
- Click + to generate a new key and name it CyberHoot. Leave Password Access turned off; CyberHoot does not need it.
- Copy the API key. It is only shown once, so store it somewhere safe.
You will need the following values in the next step:
- IT Glue API URL – the API address for your region: https://api.itglue.com (US), https://api.eu.itglue.com (EU) or https://api.au.itglue.com (AU).
- API Key – the API key you generated in IT Glue.
2. Connect to CyberHoot on Autopilot:
- On the CyberHoot Autopilot platform, navigate to Partner Dashboard > Integrations.
- Select IT Glue and click “Get Started”.
- Enter the values you collected in step 1: IT Glue API URL, API Key.
- Click “Connect to IT Glue”. CyberHoot validates the credentials against IT Glue before saving them.
Note: If the connection fails, double-check the IT Glue API URL and make sure the credentials were copied without leading or trailing spaces.
3. Map Organizations and Publish:
- On the same page, click “Map Organizations”. CyberHoot lists every organization in your IT Glue account on the left with a drop-down of your CyberHoot tenants on the right.
- For each IT Glue organization you want documented, pick the matching CyberHoot tenant from the drop-down. Leave organizations you do not want documented unmapped.
- Click “Map Organizations” at the bottom of the window to save the mappings.
- Click “Publish Now” to publish the first set of assets. The Sync Log shows the result for each mapped organization.
Note: Open any mapped organization in IT Glue and look for the CyberHoot asset to confirm the first publish succeeded.
4. Ongoing Management:
- The CyberHoot asset on each mapped organization is refreshed every night with the latest active user count, compliant user count and compliance percentage.
- To document a new customer, map their IT Glue organization to a CyberHoot tenant using “Map Organizations” and click Publish Now.
- You can add the CyberHoot fields to your own IT Glue views and reports like any other asset data.
- The Last Sync Time and Sync Log on the integration page show what happened during the most recent run.
5. Removing an Organization:
- On the CyberHoot Autopilot platform, navigate to Partner Dashboard > Integrations.
- Select IT Glue and click “Map Organizations”.
- Click the red “X” next to the organization you want to remove, then click “Map Organizations” to save.
Note: Unmapping an organization stops publishing to it. Assets already published are left in place in IT Glue; delete them there if you no longer want them.
6. Disconnecting Integration (If needed):
- On the CyberHoot Autopilot platform, navigate to Partner Dashboard > Integrations.
- Select IT Glue and click “Disconnect”.
Confirm with “Disconnect”. This removes the integration settings and organization mappings from CyberHoot. Assets already published are left in place in IT Glue, and the API key can then be revoked in IT Glue.
