Attackers using legitimate IT management tools for nefarious purposes isn’t a new phenomenon. The problem has gotten severe enough lately, though, for CISA to have issued an advisory about the practice this January. Kudos to Action1, then, for protecting both MSPs and their clients from this threat by arming its remote access software with threat actor filtering technology that uses artificial intelligence to eliminate malicious accounts automatically by looking for tell-tale signs of hackers at work.

Action1 is a risk-based patch management platform for distributed enterprise networks, helping to discover, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities and prevent security breaches and ransomware attacks.

Why should artificial intelligence be confined to servers? AMD’s XDNA technology, which the processor heavyweight acquired along with fellow chipmaker Xilinx last year, is now the centerpiece of a much-needed effort to liberate AI from the data center by bringing the same kind of high-speed inference processing technology formerly available only in server chips to client processors as well without sacrificing battery life or imposing giant price tags.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) is a semiconductor designer and manufacturer. Its processor and graphics technology power a wide range of computing devices.

It sometimes feels like everything about networks has changed in recent years except tools for administering them. Indeed, many network management systems have scarcely adapted to a new era of computing in which work once confined to office-based PCs and servers also happens on smartphones and laptops connected to cloud-based software over home Wi-Fi. Through a carefully plotted series of strategic vendor acquisitions, however, Auvik has made rapid strides in the last year toward building the post-perimeter, cloud-first, mobile-first network management tool MSPs now require.

Auvik makes network management easier. By automating and simplifying network management, Auvik’s cloud-based software improves the efficiency and capacity of IT teams and helps protect their business from network risk. Today, Auvik helps IT teams establish true visibility and efficiency across more than four million devices on over 55,000 networks worldwide. Auvik is one of the fastest growing North American technology companies, and is winner of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, Deloitte Fast 500, and recognized as the #1 ranked Canadian company in the FT Americas’ Fastest Growing Companies 2020.

SMBs need security services from channel pros skilled at delivering them more than ever, yet finding such companies remains frustratingly hard. Anyone can say they employ established best practices, after all, but that doesn’t mean they do. CompTIA’s Cybersecurity Trustmark aims to fix that problem in a way only a neutral industry association can. Built around a customized, MSP-specific set of controls borrowed from NIST, CIS, and other respected sources, the new credential aims to assist MSPs with adopting rigorous cyber hygiene best practices while helping businesses more easily identify IT partners with proven security expertise.

Like everyone else, makers of managed services software face enormous pressure to embrace generative AI ASAP. Move too fast, though, and they risk exposing MSPs and SMBs alike to data leakage, hallucinatory support advice, and other unanticipated dangers. ConnectWise is navigating this dilemma thoughtfully. One of the first vendors to build features based on OpenAI’s GPT-4 into its RMM software, it’s also one of the first vendors to issue—and enforce—an AI responsible use statement. Together, both acts set a commendable example for leveraging AI\\\'s immense power without jeopardizing channel pros or end users in the process.

ConnectWise empowers the most successful technology service providers in The IT Nation by preparing them not only for today but for the future. We connect them to a powerful suite of software solutions, an extensive platform of integrations, and the largest global community of IT professionals. Our tools and services allow partners to automate repetitive tasks, standardize service delivery, and manage information to help their businesses grow.

Plenty of security vendors offer cyber warranties, but only for their own solutions and usually in a manner better suited to corporate IT departments than MSPs. Cork’s cyber warranty, by contrast, supports an entire multivendor stack of security solutions through one policy and uses automated remote monitoring software to spot configuration changes and other problems that could trip up claims. Easier to buy and use than cyber insurance, Cork’s warranties get funds out to victims faster too and give channel pros a new way to turn financial protection against security incidents into a recurring revenue source.

Cyber warranty created exclusively for MSPs. Purpose-built platform uses real-time telemetry to enable instant coverage with dynamic premiums and fast payouts.

Frustrated by declining margins on UPS and PDA devices, more and more channel pros are coupling power hardware sales with managed monitoring, maintenance, and support. Eaton’s Brightlayer management solution, which debuted earlier this year, makes delivering such services easier by combining five previously separate administration systems into a single cloud-based app featuring one interface and built-in integration with the ConnectWise Automate RMM solution. The new offering is a giant step forward in Eaton’s ongoing effort to turn power quality into a profitable recurring revenue source for current and would-be MSPs.

Eaton is an intelligent power management company dedicated to improving the quality of life and protecting the environment for people everywhere. We are guided by our commitment to do business right, to operate sustainably and to help our customers manage power ─ today and well into the future. Mobile apps and ecommerce sites have made buying almost anything you need a simple, self-serve experience. Unless, that is, you need IT hardware and software, in which case researching prices, placing orders, and getting status updates still usually requires a phone call. Ingram Micro’s Xvantage platform is an ambitious attempt to eliminate that productivity-sapping anachronism. More than just a partner portal, the still-expanding new system is a personalized, AI-infused \\\"digital experience\\\" designed to make engaging with a distributor as intuitive an experience as interacting with online consumer services like Netflix and Amazon.

Ingram Micro Inc. is a distributor with a comprehensive IT products and services portfolio, offering partners such benefits as marketing, technical, and financial support.

Like AMD, Intel sees immense promise in bringing artificial intelligence out of the cloud and into the client devices ordinary end users rely on every day. The tech giant’s Meteor Lake family of chips is the first to pair traditional CPUs and GPUs with new vision processing units (VPUs) specifically engineered to make the kind of inference acceleration technology previously available only in big, pricey servers available in laptops and other mobile devices as well.

There’s been endless talk about the potential uses of OpenAI’s latest large language model, GPT-4. Thanks to its partnership with OpenAI, Microsoft has been a leader in realizing some of that potential via offerings like Microsoft Copilot and Bing Chat Enterprise, which are giving channel pros near-term, business-ready, real-world opportunities to turn artificial intelligence into a source of heightened customer loyalty and incremental subscription revenue.

Microsoft Corp. is a provider of software, services, and solutions that enable SMBs to grow by leveraging powerful, affordable technologies such as cloud computing.

Global spending on infrastructure-as-a-service platforms like Microsoft Azure grew just under 30% last year, according to Gartner, which sees plenty more growth ahead. N-able is helping MSPs seize that opportunity through updates like Cloud Asset Manager, a forthcoming infrastructure management addition to the company\\\'s N-sight RMM solution, and the recently released “Standby Image recovery” feature in its Cove Data Protection product, which not only lets businesses store backup images in Azure but helps channel pros migrate entire production environments into the Microsoft cloud as well.

N-able empowers managed services providers (MSPs) to help small and medium enterprises navigate the digital evolution. With our growing portfolio of security, automation, and backup and recovery solutions—and extensive, partnered support—we help MSPs deliver exceptional value and achieve success at scale.

We named Nerdio an All-Star last year for building virtual device management capabilities into its cloud management platform via integration with Microsoft Endpoint Manager. Nerdio is back on our list again this year for adding physical device management too via integration with Microsoft Intune. Those and other moves have established Nerdio as a trailblazer in architecting the truly end-to-end, cloud-first management platform MSPs increasingly need at a time when most traditional RMM solutions remain stubbornly limited to endpoints.

Nerdio is an Azure deployment, pricing, packaging, management, and optimization solution for MSPs and enterprise IT professionals.

According to Canalys, generative AI services, software, and licensing will be a $158.6 billion opportunity worldwide for channel pros by 2028. That assumes, however, that public clouds and data center operators hosting AI platforms can keep up with spiking global demand. NVIDIA’s Grace Hopper Superchip (named after the pioneering computer scientist and U.S. Navy rear admiral) should help. Designed from the ground up to optimize AI training and inference, the mega-processor reportedly delivers up to 10x higher performance for applications running terabytes of data.

NVIDIA is a maker of GPUs for use in super, mobile, and cloud computing as well as gaming.

Gartner says the global market for “hyperautomation” software that uses AI, robotic process automation, and other technologies to accelerate business workflows will exceed $1 trillion by 2026. Most of the hyperautomation solutions available now, however, are for enterprise IT departments outside the tech industry. Pia is an early leader in applying hyperautomation principles to routine help desk tasks that eat into technician productivity. Using AI-powered chatbots, ticketing triage tools, and predictive analytics, the company is helping MSPs provide faster service more profitably and cope with an ongoing technical labor shortage to boot.

We voted Pia and Rewst onto this year’s All-Stars list simultaneously, as both companies are doing especially important work in a field poised to help MSPs make giant strides in productivity and profitability. Rewst’s standout feature is its no-code workflow engine, which allows more or less any tech to start automating processes without first mastering a whole new scripting language. Like Pia’s solution, Rewst’s features a multitenant interface and integrates with dozens of popular security, collaboration, RMM, and PSA products.

Rewst is a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platform that integrates your tools. No coding or agents required. Build flows on visual canvasses and bridge your tool gaps, saving on headcount and efficiency.

Genuinely new form factors don’t appear often in the hardware world. Valve’s Steam Deck, a handheld gaming device, is a rare example of something not only new but potentially category-defining as well. ASUS and Lenovo have already developed versions of their own, in fact, and we expect more such products to come. Don’t fixate on the Steam Deck’s origins in gaming, either. It’s only a matter of time before vendors start experimenting with commercial applications too.

Valve is an American video game developer and digital distribution company. Valve has created numerous popular games, such as Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Portal, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead and the Dota 2 series. Valve also owns and operates Steam, it's online distribution service, where gamers can easily buy, play, share, modify, and build communities around Valve products as well as titles from other independent game studios.

      • Cloud distributor Pax8 is undeniably one of the SMB channel’s biggest recent success stories, with 571% cumulative three-year revenue growth, according to the latest Inc. 5000 list. Its commitment to giving back in an equally big way is impressive. Under the leadership of Lyndsey Hoffman, the company’s vice president of social impact, Pax8 is making sustained investments both in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. The most recent example is the company’s decision to donate 100% of the $60,000 it collected selling merch at its Beyond partner conference to EverFree, a nonprofit organization that helps human trafficking survivors on their journey to lasting freedom. There’s much more to come, Hoffman promises, for a wide range of other deserving nonprofits

Pax8 is a cloud commerce marketplace focused on the delivery of cloud-based solutions to a global network of channel partners and their customers.
