EVERY YEAR, we at ChannelPro look forward to your verdict on which vendors and distributors are the best in the business. And make no mistake, those vendors and distributors pay very close attention to your selections too.

Time to end the suspense. Here are the results of the latest ChannelPro Readers’ Choice Awards.

  • Managed Services Awards

    • Best Remote Monitoring and Management Vendor
Congratulations to NinjaOne on its first Readers’ Choice win, and to ConnectWise and Kaseya as well for placing first and second, respectively, for the second time straight. Hard to say, but we suspect a lot of people who voted a year ago for Datto, last year’s bronze medalist, cast their ballot for Datto’s new corporate parent Kaseya instead this time.
      • Gold

      • Bronze

NinjaOne is a provider of RMM solutions for MSPs.

    • Best Professional Services Automation Vendor
Again, Kaseya’s big tally in this critical category is probably a combination vote for its own BMS solution plus Datto’s Autotask PSA, both of which medaled separately last year. Rolling them together this year left room for N-able to return to the medal stand for the first time since 2021 and for NinjaOne to claim a second award. Is it time to count them among the “big four” PSA/RMM vendors?

    • Best Documentation Vendor

    • Best Managed Print Vendor
Once again, HP was your runaway choice for best managed print vendor. The rest of the results were more interesting. Brother and Epson, neither of which has won in this category before, both took home medals for the first time, and there was a lot of movement further down in the balloting too. This market may be up for grabs.

  • Cloud Computing Awards

    • Best Video Collaboration Solution
This is a young category (it debuted in 2020), but it’s a bit surprising nonetheless that this year’s bronze medal win by Webex marks the first time the popular Cisco product has placed in the top three.
      • Gold

      • Bronze

Cisco Systems Inc. is a provider of IP-based networking and other products related to the communications and IT industry.

    • Best Cloud Email/Collaboration Solution
The closest thing to a surprise in this category, which saw the same companies win the same medals as last year, is that Microsoft’s share of the voting dropped from a gargantuan 71% in 2022 to a merely huge 60% this year.
      • Gold

Microsoft Corp. is a provider of software, services, and solutions that enable SMBs to grow by leveraging powerful, affordable technologies such as cloud computing.

    • Best Cloud Management Vendor
Granted this is only the second year we’ve doled out awards for cloud management, but it’s striking nonetheless to see gold medalist Microsoft cede some of its lead in 2023 to AWS, Google, and Pax8, none of which even medaled last year.

    • Best Private Cloud Computing Vendor
Someone will have to explain this one to us. Microsoft, which has practically owned this category since 2018, didn’t win anything in 2023. That made room for Dell Technologies to move from second place to first, for HPE to move from third to second, and for IBM to win its first medal in this category.

  • Virtualization Awards

    • Best Desktop Virtualization Vendor
There are two changes worth noting in these virtualization categories, which have produced fairly stable results through the years. First, Microsoft jumped up significantly in this year’s balloting for storage virtualization to regain the gold medal status it last enjoyed in 2021. Second, Microsoft’s margin of victory in the desktop virtualization voting is back at 10%, just like it was in 2021, after dropping to a mere 1% in 2022.

Webroot, an OpenText company, harnesses the cloud and artificial intelligence to provide comprehensive cyber resilience solutions for businesses, individuals, and managed service providers.

Cyber resilience means being able to stay up and running, no matter what the internet throws at you or your clients. But as cybercriminals focus on stealing data and causing disruption, small and medium-sized businesses—who often have weaker defenses and not enough resources to resolve cyber issues—have become prime targets. With advanced threats like ransomware, polymorphic malware, and malicious scripts, traditional blocking solutions are no longer enough.

That’s why Webroot provides next-generation, cloud-based endpoint protection, network protection, and security awareness training solutions purpose built to help managed service providers strengthen their clients’ resilience against cyberattacks.

  • Hardware Awards

    • Best Server Hardware
Dell Technologies, which has grabbed the gold in this category every year since 2013, somehow expanded its lead even further, receiving a dominant 53% of the vote. Somewhat more interesting is that HPE, which just squeaked past Lenovo in 2022, took the silver medal by a comfortable distance in this year’s vote.
      • Gold

Dell Technologies is the leader in digital transformation that drives business success. Includes brands such as Dell, Dell EMC, VMware, RSA, Virtustream, Pivotal, SecureWorks, etc.

      • Bronze

Lenovo is a computing manufacturer of business and consumer PCs, servers, workstations, and mobile devices.

    • Best Desktop Hardware
Dell widened its lead in the desktop category too this year. HP, which tied for third place with ASUS last year, got bronze status all to itself in 2023.
      • Gold

Dell Inc. is a manufacturer of PCs, servers, laptops, Ultrabooks, tablets, monitors, and other computer accessories.

When added to the broadest IT portfolio in the industry, it's the most compelling growth opportunity for the partner community.

    • Best Laptop/2-in-1
This year’s first and second place results in the laptop/2-in-1 category are nearly identical to 2022. The big change is that HP, which finished just behind joint bronze winners ASUS and Microsoft last year, finished just ahead of them this year.
      • Gold

Lenovo is a computing manufacturer of business and consumer PCs, servers, workstations, and mobile devices.

      • Silver

    • Best Converged/Hyper-Converged Infrastructure Solution
This is Microsoft’s third consecutive gold medal in this category, after having never won a medal at all, and its lead in the balloting has widened for the second consecutive time. Cisco, which was narrowly denied the bronze medal in 2022, narrowly won it this time around.
      • Gold

Microsoft Corp. is a provider of software, services, and solutions that enable SMBs to grow by leveraging powerful, affordable technologies such as cloud computing.

    • Best Monitor
The competition tends to be intense in this category, and 2023 was no exception. Last year, Samsung came just shy of beating Dell for gold status. This year, it edged past Dell to win top honors in monitors for the first time since 2017. ViewSonic, it’s worth noting, only received slightly fewer votes than this year’s gold and silver medalists.
      • Gold

      • Silver

    • Best UPS and Power Conditioning Vendor
Schneider Electric’s APC unit takes home the gold medal pretty much every year. The only real question is the order in which CyberPower and Eaton will finish. This year, for the second straight time, CyberPower won silver and Eaton (together with its Tripp Lite business) won bronze.

    • Best Unified Communications/VoIP Vendor
Last year, for mysterious reasons, you denied any UC/VoIP medals whatsoever to Cisco, which had always been your top choice in this category before. This year, just as mysteriously, you’re back on historical track, with Cisco winning gold ahead of Microsoft and RingCentral.
      • Gold

Cisco Systems Inc. is a provider of IP-based networking and other products related to the communications and IT industry.

      • Bronze

RingCentral delivers cloud business communications solutions.

    • Best Networking Vendor
We list Cisco and Cisco Meraki together on our ballot, just like HPE and its Aruba unit, to avoid confusion about exactly which company readers had in mind when they cast their vote. The two (or is it four?) companies, which tied for silver last year, have put some distance between each other this year, leaving second place open for Ubiquiti.
      • Gold

Cisco Meraki is involved in enterprise networking, such as cloud controlled WiFi, routing, and security.

      • Silver

Ubiquiti Networks is an American technology company that manufactures wireless data communication products for enterprise and wireless broadband providers with a primary focus on under-served and emerging markets.

      • Bronze

Aruba Networks is subsidiary of Hewlett Packard Enterprise building wired, wireless, and security networking solutions.

    • Best Vendor Partner Program
Not sure what to make of this, but the Dell Expert Network—a program only open to channel pros who aren’t in the Dell Technologies Partner Program—was your favorite partner program in this year’s voting. Long-time favorite Microsoft claimed its second straight silver medal, and HP returned to the medal stand for the first time since 2014.
      • Gold

    • Best IT Community
CompTIA and The ASCII Group have been swapping first and second place in this category every year since 2019. Sure enough, they did it again in 2023, with CompTIA reclaiming the gold slot it ceded to ASCII in 2022.

Carbonite’s complete Data Protection Platform includes advanced solutions for ensuring the integrity, survivability and accessibility of data for businesses of all sizes and in any industry.

Business data is subject to numerous threats. When adverse events put data at risk, Carbonite provides the tools to bounce back with as little disruption as possible. We refer to this as cyber resilience – and it’s critical for today’s data-dependent businesses. With a complete stack of data protection solutions from Carbonite, businesses can implement a recovery-first approach to cyber resiliency, determining first the urgency of the data or system, and then deploying the kind of protection that will deliver the recovery objectives for that system. This means real-time replication and mirroring for critical servers and applications, periodic snapshots for disaster recovery and point-in-time retention for historical data.

Carbonite helps ensure higher levels of uptime by protecting business data from adverse events like ransomware, data loss and catastrophic outages. We also support compliance for businesses in regulated industries.

Highly flexible plans and capex-friendly pricing solve the challenge of having to choose between niche solutions for the sake of one high-priority system. With Carbonite, you get the level of protection you need for all your systems without sacrificing security or overpaying for performance.
