NAKIVO Announces New Features in the Upcoming v7.2 for AWS, VMware, and Hyper-V Backup

The upcoming NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.2, scheduled for release in early Q3, will add great new features for AWS, VMware, and Hyper-V backup and recovery.

NAKIVO Inc., a fast-growing software company for protecting virtualized and cloud environments, announced new features in the upcoming NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.2:

Asustor NAS Support: NAKIVO Backup & Replication can already be deployed on a variety of platforms, including Windows, Linux, VMware VA, AWS AMI, as well as QNAP, WD, and Synology NAS. The new v7.2 will allow installing NAKIVO Backup & Replication on x86 Asustor NAS, which will turn the NAS into a high-performance VM backup appliance that combines backup software, backup hardware, backup storage, and data deduplication in a single cost-effective device.

Log Truncation for Microsoft SQL: While NAKIVO Backup & Replication already provides log truncation for Microsoft Exchange, the upcoming v7.2 will extend the log truncation support to Microsoft SQL Server. With this feature, NAKIVO Backup & Replication will be able to automatically delete SQL transaction log files that could otherwise fill up all the free space and crash the entire server.

Instant Object Recovery to Source for Microsoft SQL: The upcoming v7.2 will also provide the ability to instantly recover Microsoft SQL server objects, such as databases and tables. The recovery will be performed directly from the compressed and deduplicated VM backup, without the need to recover an entire VM first. V7.2 will provide several recovery options: recovery directly to the source SQL server, a different SQL server, or export of objects to a custom location.

Calendar Dashboard: For large environments with thousands of VMs, scheduling data protection jobs and finding free slots in the backup window can be a challenge. NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.2 will improve job scheduling by introducing the new Calendar dashboard, which will display all jobs and their predicted duration in a calendar view (much like meetings in a calendar application), as well as allow to create new and manage existing jobs.

Flexible Job Scheduling: The new v7.2 will also improve job scheduling by allowing to add multiple schedules for a single job. This way, it will be possible to schedule a single job to run at different times, as required by the business needs.

Registration for the v7.2 Beta is available here. All Beta program participants who fulfill the Beta program requirements will receive a gift card.

“The upcoming features are aimed at improving various aspects of virtualization data protection. The addition of the ASUSTOR NAS will further extend our platform support and allow our customers to leverage their existing investment in hardware for creating a reliable and high-performance VM backup appliance. The Microsoft SQL log truncation and object recovery features will help improve the SQL server administration, uptime, and operational recovery. Customers with larger environments will appreciate the Calendar dashboard, which will help them better manage data protection jobs and backup windows,” said Bruce Talley, CEO of NAKIVO, Inc.
