Avere Systems Adds NAS Appliances to Its FXT Line

The FXT 3000 and FXT 4000 series of scaling performance products feature tiered file systems that organize data across RAM, SSD, SAS, and SATA tiers to reduce disks, power, and rack space.

The FXT 3000 and FXT 4000 series of scaling performance products feature tiered file systems that organize data across RAM, SSD, SAS, and SATA tiers to reduce disks, power, and rack space.

NAS optimization solutions manufacturer Avere Systems†has broadened its popular FXT line of application performance scaling products. The new FXT 3000 and FXT 4000 series NAS appliances are designed to scale performance separately from capacity in order to achieve millions of IOPS.

Avere Systems Adds NAS Appliances to Its FXT Line The products enable placement of FXT nodes across a wide-area from the storage servers to eliminate the latency penalty for remote application access.

The FXT models’ release comes on the heels of the latest Avere Operating System rollout.

NEW FXT MODELS
Each of Avere’s NAS optimization solutions feature a tiered file system that organizes data across RAM, SSD, SAS, and SATA tiers to effectively provide a 5:1 reduction in disks, power, and rack space.†The new FXT 3000 and FXT 4000 series hardware platforms are designed for even greater scalability and efficiency, doubling the number of appliances that can be clustered (to 50) and providing as much as 7 TB of RAM and hundreds of terabytes of SAS or SSD capacity on a single cluster.

“When combined with the ability to understand storage network usage patterns, our NAS optimization solutions give customers the resources to use the storage infrastructure for competitive advantage,” says Avere president and CEO Ron Bianchini.

The FXT 3200 features 96 GB of RAM and 4.8 TB of SAS disk storage. It offers six 1 GbE ports and two copper 10 GbE ports. The FXT 3500 features 144 GB of RAM and 9 TB of SAS disk storage.

Avere’s FXT Flash-based 4200 offers 96 GB of RAM and 1.6 TB of SSD. The FXT 4500 provides 144 GB of RAM and 3 TB of SSD.

The FXT 3000 Series starts at†$72,500. Pricing for the FXT 4000 Series starts at†$99,500.

AVERE OPERATING SYSTEM
In addition to new FXT models, the latest Avere Operating System release provides improved analytic functionality that gives storage administrators new views into storage performance. Features include:

  • The ability to create, save, and export customizable graphs and graph sets
  • “Click and grab” graph manipulation tools, like sliders and pan-and-hover capabilities, that enable users to navigate through time periods and information.
  • Comparisons of multiple on the same time axis.
  • Comparisons of a single statistic at multiple time points.
  • Histograms and heat maps.
