The fall meeting of Tech Data Corp.’s elite TechSelect partner community, which took place last week in Orlando, proved an ideal opportunity for ChannelPro to quiz senior leaders on what resellers can expect from the Clearwater, Fla.-based distributor in the months ahead. Tech Data’s pending $2.6 billion acquisition of Phoenix-based distributor Avnet Inc.’s technology solutions group has Avnet partners wondering what the future holds in store for them. According to Marty Bauerlein, Tech Data’s senior vice president of U.S. sales, they have nothing to worry about.
“When the transaction takes place, it’s business as usual,” he says. “What you had with Avnet you’re going to have with us.”
That includes credit lines, he continues. Resellers who partner with both distis now will have every bit as much buying power after the Avnet deal closes as they do today.
“What we’re stressing to our customers is one plus one equals two,” Bauerlein says.
