Take, for example, the fume-free electric bus pictured here, which is fresh off the assembly line and set to go into service in Clemson, S.C., shortly. SYNNEX helped equip it inside and out with IP video cameras and mobile network access.
“The city of Clemson’s excited about this because it’ll eliminate a lot of liability potentially,” says Kirk Nesbit, vice president of design and support services at SYNNEX. This bus stores captured footage locally for later downloading, he adds, but transit agencies can stream video directly to an archive in the cloud as well if they prefer.
