Employees come and go. Family is forever. One way IT By Design keeps employees from jumping ship, therefore, is to treat them like more than just a name on the payroll.
That begins with little things, like the coffee Kaila brings around the office personally every morning or the healthy snacks he makes available, and includes access to a “reboot room” with a pool table and popcorn machine where stressed out techs can take a break from their keyboard.
“When they feel the love and they feel that connection, they feel like a family,” Kaila says.
That feeling must be especially strong during times of emotional and financial stress, he continues. The real proof of your devotion to employees comes when someone needs a little help getting through a divorce, coping with a sick child, or covering an unexpected debt—and gets it.
“Actions speak louder than words,” Kaila says. “You have to show it in your action.”
