All-in-one computers were a natural evolution in desktop computing. Space is a commodity, so if you have an area in which both a monitor and a tower take up space, combining the two makes sense. As such, OEMs quickly realized that merging a combination of laptop and desktop parts with the display yields an all-in-one solution that takes up far less space, with little compromise for most users. It has also been a driving force in bringing touch capabilities to the desktop.
