The tower, oh the tower! It’s been around practically forever (in terms of PC years), and despite its dinosaur age it still continues to be just as relevant to the industry. A tower can be built into almost anything, be it a productivity PC, a full-blown server, or a storage appliance. Has there ever been a form factor so flexible or diverse in its capability than the tower PC?
The beauty of the tower is its ability to stand on its own (literally), not requiring racks or an expensive chassis. It can hold everything needed, like expansion cards, storage, and power, which can be swapped out easily as needs change and technology improves. You wouldn’t want to build a data center out of towers, but for an SMB that needs one or two servers, it’s a perfect fit.
