Proofpoint plans to introduce a new automated online ordering process this week.
“We’re going to make it very, very easy to quote, fulfill, get an order processed to Proofpoint,” says Joe Sykora, the vendor’s senior vice president of worldwide channels and partner sales.
The new procurement system arrives some two and a half months after the rollout of Proofpoint’s Element Partner Program, which also emphasizes simplicity. The new offering has just two tiers, a “core” level for most members and an “elite” level for roughly the top 10%.
The Element program, in turn, arrived just months after Proofpoint’s acquisition of identity threat detection and response vendor Illusive for an undisclosed sum. Illusive’s software will help bridge the gap between Proofpoint’s Aegis threat protection platform and Sigma information protection platform, according to D. J. Long, vice president of strategic alliances and business development.
“What we’re doing with Illusive is slowing lateral movement of malware, because inevitably there’s going to be penetration,” he says.
Technical integration of Illusive’s solutions and the rest of Proofpoint’s portfolio is ongoing. Partners can resell those systems now though.
“We’ve been doing training and enablement,” Sykora says. “It’s our fastest growing pipeline out of any of the products we’ve ever acquired.”
