Barracuda Networks has added two application protection subscriptions to its web security purchasing options.
The new Advanced and Premium plans combine previously introduced web application, API, DDoS, and bot protection offerings. Both are designed to accommodate increased demand among end users for as-a-service security solutions, according to Fleming Shi, Barracuda’s CTO. Together with the recent naming of Maria Martinez as vice president of channels for the Americas and Karen Ward as vice president of MSP sales for the Americas, they also reflect intensified efforts by Barracuda to attract and support MSPs, he continues.
“In the past, cybersecurity was relatively straightforward,” Fleming says. “In today’s world, the cybersecurity attack chain is usually touching multiple attack surfaces, so it’s getting more complex.” As a result, he continues, end users need MSPs more than ever, and so does Barracuda.
Unveiled days before the RSA Conference, the new subscription plans officially rolled out during the show. According to Shi, more such MSP-friendly purchasing options are currently in development.
“It’s important for Barracuda to create a platform they’re comfortable to operate on,” he says.
Martinez and Ward both report to Jason Beal, who became the company’s vice president of worldwide partner ecosystems last November. Beal plans to roll currently separate partner programs into a converged offering for everyone in its channel this September.
