ConnectWise used to describe its primary market as managed service providers. Quietly, within the past couple of years, it’s begun saying “technology solution provider” instead.
The difference is strategic rather than semantic. MSPs are one subset of a larger TSP market that spans from traditional VARs and telco agents to cloud service providers, audio-video specialists, and beyond. To serve all those partner types both now and in the future, ConnectWise believes, it needs a software platform flexible enough to meet diverse requirements, accommodate new technologies, and address changing service opportunities.
CEO Arnie Bellini (pictured) describes the architecture ConnectWise is building to provide that flexibility as a Lego set of piece parts that customers can mix and match as their wishes and business models dictate. Realizing that vision, he adds, is a work in progress with a long way to go.
“The Lego pieces that we have right now are really just the beginning of what is necessary to solve what is becoming a more complex world for technology solution providers,” Bellini says.
