Jason Magee (pictured), ConnectWise’s CEO, stressed three particular strategic focus areas for next year during a keynote appearance at the conference yesterday, beginning with accelerated innovation.
“We’re going to deliver more innovation, and we’re going to do it faster,” he said. In a subsequent conversation with ChannelPro, Magee said that promise comes in response to complaints from ConnectWise partners that the company hasn’t been introducing the kind of high-impact enhancements they’ve been hoping for since it bought fellow managed services software maker Continuum in 2019.
That will change soon though, says Chief Product Officer Jeff Bishop, now that the considerable labor required to build Asio is complete. With a core set of reusable microservices for basic functions finally in place after two years of effort, he notes, coders once responsible for multiple, very similar product-specific services can move on to more innovative work instead.
“Instead of the 20 developers that might be working on 20 different workflow tools across our platform, we have one,” Bishop says. “Those other 19 developers now have a lot of freedom and flexibility to work on other things.”
