Global spending on SD-WAN will mount at a 30.8% CAGR through 2023 to $5.25 billion, according to IDC. Heather Paunet, vice president of product management at firewall and router maker Untangle, expects SMBs to account for a lot of that growth next year.
“In 2020, we see small businesses continuing the trend in SD-WAN deployment to not only meet their growing business needs, but also making their networks more powerful,” she says. Along the way, she adds, they will also turn the branch offices where SD-WAN has the greatest impact on efficiency and performance into tempting targets.
“Hackers will turn their attention to the edge, and strategically creating security barriers [at] the gateway, cloud, and branch office will need to be a priority in 2020,” Paunet says.
