In August, security vendor Webroot Inc. announced that it had acquired security training provider Securecast, of Portland, Ore., and entered the end user awareness training market. Just three months later, it’s landed what is arguably its most significant reseller yet for that offering: ConnectWise.
Starting in a few weeks, ConnectWise will add Broomfield, Colo.-based Webroot’s security awareness training solution to its line card and begin promoting the system to its MSP customers through its salesforce.
That’s good news not just for Webroot but for the considerable portion of its MSP channel that runs their business on ConnectWise software, according to Charlie Tomeo, vice president of worldwide business sales at Webroot, because partners that opt to deliver security training to their customers will be able to manage that service through the exact same integrated, Webroot-specific interface in ConnectWise they already use to administer the company’s endpoint security product.
“They’re not adding a completely different product or a completely different management portal,” he says.
The new agreement is a win for ConnectWise as well, according to Vice President of Channel Sales and Alliances Gavin Gamber, who notes that Webroot and ConnectWise were already close partners.
“When we heard they were offering this product, it seemed like another great extension that we should be offering to our customers,’ he says. “They trust the brand, and we trust Webroot.”
