2017 was a banner year for high-profile hacks and data breaches. Not surprisingly, it’s been a banner year for security spending too. Indeed, Gartner currently projects 11.7 percent growth in the network security segment specifically this year.
D&H can top that, though. It recorded a 26 percent spike in sales of network security products on a year-over-year basis in its fiscal Q2. D&H co-president Dan Schwab expects that trend to continue.
“If you had to pin me down to the one area that we’re going to see the biggest growth or the biggest catalyst for reseller conversations and opportunities for the next five years, it’s going to be security every year,” he says. “This is something that’s not going away.”
In fact, even small business owners who hate spending money on technology understand that IT security is basically a cost of doing business these days, Schwab continues.
“It’s like having insurance,” Schwab says. “Most people would never think of not having it.”
