Wow. It has been 30 years since Arnold started the whole Terminator franchise with his chilling portrayal of a psychopathic cyborg sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor. The PC as we know it was just getting established then and the entire year/concept of 1984 had other creepy Orwellian conections.
Since then, tech has made great leaps forward to assist humankind. But lurking beneath that hard exterior, I suspect there lies a sinister intent...
“Social” robots that can learn, emulate, and interact with us. Drones that deliver our packages and take our photos. Wearable technology that can tinker with our brains. Cars that can parallel park for us. The future is clearly here, and while all this automation is intended to be helpful, some of it is, well, a little disconcerting. And maybe too life-like, or not.
