XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB Dual Fan Edition Review: Page 7 of 7

The XFX Dual-Fan HD 6870 is one of the quietest video cards I’ve seen in a long time. Even at full 100% fan speed the card was subjectively quieter than the reference HD 6870 card was at normal operating speeds. By Elric Phares

Conclusion

There are a couple of things to be said about the XFX Radeon HD-687-ZDFC card. First of all it is one of the quietest video cards I’ve seen in a long time. Even at full 100% fan speed the card was subjectively quieter than the reference HD 6870 card was at normal operating speeds.  The second point that should be made is that the card does run less warm during load, by 2 degrees when both the AMD reference fan and the XFX fan run at 100% speed. These are the benefits of the new cards and make the $245.99 price tag a worthy purchase. Note that the prices of AMD cards are in flux due to the GeForce GTX 560 Ti launch and you will likely see this card at a lower price point in a matter of days due that the fact that they have lowered the 6870 pricing to $219.99 making it a Top Value product in this line of cards.
