XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB Dual Fan Edition Review

The XFX Dual-Fan HD 6870 is one of the quietest video cards I’ve seen in a long time. Even at full 100% fan speed the card was subjectively quieter than the reference HD 6870 card was at normal operating speeds. By Elric Phares

The video card market has changed again, for the better. NVIDIA has launched the GTX560 Ti which is a superior product against the HD 6870 but is slightly higher in price than that card. AMD has responded by launching the HD 6950 1GB card to compete against it at a slightly higher price point than the GTX560 Ti. A competitive landscape for this price point is good for the consumer and keeps both companies on their toes.

XFX makes video cards, Power Supplies and other computer related equipment. When they first started out they were exclusively NVIDIA partners, but with the launch of the GTX 480 they have become partners exclusively with AMD. They have released many cards on the HD 6870 including a Black Edition version. Today’s card is on their ZDFC version of the card which has two fans instead of the single one on the reference and Black Edition versions.
