GIGABYTE GTX 660Ti Features
As we take a first look at the card we can see the 2 very large WindForce fans right on top and below them we see the copper heat-pipes and aluminum heatsink that make up the cooling apparatus on the Gigabyte GTX 660Ti. The cooling solution actually extends past the rear of the card and covers the card completely from front to back and beyond. The GeForce GTX 660Ti comes to the table with 1344 CUDA Cores and 7 SMX units, which is 1 SMX shy of its bigger brothers that have 8 and should not make that crucial a difference in 1920X1080 gaming. Gigabyre still retains their blue PCB and this has run true for all of their cards in the last few years.
Now the memory controller system is a bit different as well as the memory subsystem on the GeForce GTX 660Ti consists of 3 64-Bit memory controllers for a total of a192-Bit controller and features 2Gb of fast GDDR5 memory. The base clock speed of the GTX 660Ti is 915MHz with a typical boost clock of 980MHz. Gigabytes OC version though comes overclocked right out of the box with a core clock speed of 1032MHz and a typical boost of 1111MHz. The memory clock speed is 6008MHz with an overall effective bandwidth of 142.2GB/sec and this is the same on most GeForce GTX 660Ti cards on launch even the overclocked ones from other manufactures although there are exceptions to the rule.
The card sizes in at 10’’W X 2”” D X 4””H and the card requires two 6-Pin power connectors. The GTX 660Ti typically uses 134W of power under non-TDP applications. The PCIe interface is based off the 3.0 standard and offers better bandwidth when combined with a Z77 chipset supporting that technology. There are two SLI fingers on the top of the card and these allow for Triple SLI configurations, unfortunately Quad SLI is not supported on the GTX 660Ti. The rear I/O of the card offers users the ability to connect up to 4 monitors in NVIDIA Surround Vision off a single card, for connectivity we see 2 Dual-Link DVI-I/DVI-D connections, a standard HDMIO port and a standard Display Port connection. The only real difference we see here is the reduction of SMX cores from 8 to 7 and a few less CUDA cores so performance should still be very adequate for gaming at 1920X1200 or 1920X1080 resolutions. Lets now move forward to the testing and gaming aspects of the Gigabyte OC Version GTX 660Ti.
