Zyxel WiFi 6 Technology Maximizes Digital Learning in the Classroom

New WiFi 6 (11ax) Access Points Deliver Faster, More Consistent Connections in High-Density Educational Environments to Optimize Performance of Bandwidth-Intensive Applications

October 22, 2019 08:05 AM Eastern Daylight Time

ANAHEIM, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Zyxel Communications, a leading provider of secure broadband networking, Internet access and connected home products, today announced the launch of the WAX650S 802.11ax (WiFi 6) Dual-Radio Unified Pro Access Point, the first in the company’s WiFi 6 (11ax) Access Point (AP) series. Designed for high-density environments, the Zyxel WiFi 6 (11ax) AP Series is designed to ease network congestion to maximize the performance of network devices and optimize the use of digital curriculum in the classroom.

@ZyxelNews today announced the launch of its new #WiFi6 #11ax wireless access points designed for high-density classroom environments.

Zyxel’s new WiFi 6 (11ax) AP series delivers faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced latency through the implementation of WiFi 6 high-efficiency wireless technology. Utilizing OFDMA and spatial reuse (BSS coloring) technology, large numbers of devices in the classroom can connect simultaneously and reliably to the next-generation WAX650S access point without straining the bandwidth, resulting in higher network capacity and a more efficient WiFi infrastructure.

Benefits of the WAX650S 802.11ax Dual-Radio Unified Pro Access Point:

Next-Generation WiFi: The dual-band WAX650S supports data rates up to 3550 Mbps (2400 Mbps in 5 Ghz and 1150 Mbps in 2.4 GHz) to maximize the performance of bandwidth-intensive applications in the classroom; WiFi 6 technology combined with smart antenna technology delivers faster and more consistent connections for every user and significantly increases network capacity to support hundreds of connections without reducing network speeds or increasing latency.

Maximum Performance in High-Density Environments: Basic Service Set (BSS) coloring eliminates co-channel interference between multiple access points enabling the network to support high volumes of WiFi devices connecting on the same channel; smart antenna technology physically changes the antenna pattern to avoid interference from other co-channel APs; built-in 4G/5G interference filters minimize interference from 4G/5G cellular network antennas or signal boosters.

Versatile and Easy-to-Manage: The WAX650S can be managed either as a standalone AP via an on-premises controller or remotely via the cloud through the intuitive Nebula Control Center, enabling the AP to be deployed into any network environment to protect wireless technology investments.

Advanced Features Ensure Optimal Wireless Experience: Dynamic Channel Selection (DCS), Zero Wait DFS, Load Balancing, and Smart Client Steering optimize the performance of the network and connected devices; a third radio is dedicated to scanning and monitoring the wireless environment to reserve the main 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios to service client devices only.

“The ongoing shift to digital curriculum in the classroom is driving the rapid integration of connected devices such as smart whiteboards, laptops and tablets into everyday usage at every level of the K-12 educational environment,” explained Shawn Rogers, Market Development Manager at Zyxel Communications. “The exponential growth in the number of devices accessing the school network threatens to overtax the network and could even render it unusable for today’s bandwidth-intensive classroom applications. Our new WiFi 6 AP series is designed specifically for high-density environments like classrooms where large numbers of devices need to access the network simultaneously without causing decreases in throughput speeds or creating network instability. This next-generation WiFi solution provides the robust, high-performance, high-reliability network infrastructure that allows today’s advanced digital resources to be delivered and utilized as they are meant to be.”
