VMware and Oracle Collaborate to Enable Advanced Security Features and Streamlined Management of Oracle Mobile Enterprise Applications

VMware AirWatch and Workspace ONE customers can now securely manage their Oracle mobile business applications

PALO ALTO, Calif. and REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., May 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — VMware Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility and Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork, and Oracle today announced a new relationship to simplify management and enable advanced security features for Oracle’s suite of mobile business applications and Oracle Mobile Cloud Service (OMCS) for mobile devices. Oracle has the most enterprise mobile applications in the Apple App Store and was also named a leader in The Forrester Wave: Mobile Development Platforms, Q4 2016. Through this collaboration, Oracle’s robust mobile ecosystem can now leverage application management and security through VMware AirWatchÆ.

VMware is the first mobile application management provider to manage and secure hundreds of Oracle business applications and custom applications built on the OMCS. As such, enterprise IT organizations can manage their Oracle application suite on a single unified platform together with their other business-critical applications and devices. Users who count on Oracle’s business applications to make better decisions, reduce costs and increase performance can benefit by being able to access these applications through a simple digital workspace environment – be it from a mobile device, laptop or desktop – with VMware Workspace ONE and AirWatch.

“Mobilizing critical business processes is at the core of both of our organizations’ DNA and this collaboration will help us advance this shared vision for our customers and their end users alike,” said Sanjay Poonen, chief operating officer, customer operations, VMware. “We’re proud to come together with Oracle to make it easier for IT administrators to secure and manage these critical mobile apps and help their end users seamlessly access them from any endpoint. VMware Workspace ONE is the industry’s only integrated platform for application and access management and unified endpoint management (VMware AirWatchÆ) that enables simple enterprise secure access to any app from any device, accelerating adoption of digital workspaces.”

With hundreds of cross-industry capabilities spanning enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, supply chain planning, and more, Oracle’s suite of business applications helps customers of all sizes manage the complexities of global business environments.

OMCS simplifies enterprise mobility by giving customers a complete mobile solution and the choice and flexibility to develop their own unique enterprise mobile strategy. OMCS makes it easy for enterprises to develop and extend existing enterprise applications or build custom apps with a Mobile First platform.

“We put our customers at the center of everything we do and we’re constantly looking for ways to enhance our business applications to expand their software investment,” said Thomas Kurian, president, Oracle. “Oracle has many customers who have standardized on VMware Workspace ONE for application security and management. With this agreement, everyone involved—Oracle, VMware, our customers and their end users—can benefit from the two companies working together.”
