Vertiv : Introduces Pre-Integrated, Micro Data Center Rack Solution for Edge Deployments and Small Spaces in North America

Vertiv VRC-S integrates rack PDU, cooling and monitoring systems to streamline and simplify installation and setup

Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, today introduced the Vertiv VRC-S, a rack integrated with infrastructure support equipment and designed for fast, easy installation at the edge of the network and other small IT sites. The Vertiv VRC-S incorporates a rack power distribution unit (rPDU), monitoring sensors and software and the new Vertiv VRC self-contained rack cooling system in an enclosed, standard-sized IT rack. The Vertiv VRC-S is available now in North America through Vertiv local representatives and numerous distributors and channel partners.

Available in eight pre-built, standard options with two voltage options (120V or 208V), the Vertiv VRC-S streamlines installation and configuration to allow the system to be up and running within hours of delivery. The Vertiv Geist rPDU provides distribution and switched outlet level control and includes Vertiv Intelligence Director software to deliver remote monitoring and management of power and cooling through a single pane of glass.

‘Piecing together various IT infrastructure components to meet evolving needs at the edge of the network can be a complex, time-consuming task for today’s IT managers,’ said Martin Olsen, vice president of global edge systems for Vertiv. ‘The new Vertiv VRC-S takes the legwork and wait time out of the equation, offering an integrated, prefabricated data center solution that ships in days and can be installed in hours.’

The integrated, rack-mounted cooling unit in the Vertiv VRC-S is designed specifically for today’s IT loads, and unlike building air conditioning, it does not remove moisture. It delivers 3.5 kW of cooling in a highly efficient closed system that directs cool air to the front of the IT equipment and ejects hot air out the back of the unit and out of the building. The unit’s integrated monitoring system includes sensors at the front and top of the rack that trigger alerts and activate the backup fan for emergency airflow in case of power outages.

The Vertiv VRC-S is compatible with Vertiv rackmount uninteruptible power supply systems, including the Vertiv Liebert® GXT5 UPS. The entire system is available with installation and preventive maintenance services performed by local, factory-trained Vertiv Services professionals.

When purchased as a unit, the Vertiv VRC-S is available with a three-year warranty covering every component of the system. For more information on the Vertiv VRC-S and the full portfolio Vertiv thermal management solutions, visit Vertiv.com.
