Supermicro Shows Off Latest Server Solutions at Computex

The server manufacturer uses the Taiwan event to showcase serverboards, SuperBlade, SuperWorkstations, and SuperStorage systems.

Server innovator Super Micro Computer Inc. used the Computex Taiwan 2012 event forum last week to show off its collection of X9 Server Solutions, as well as its serverboards, SuperBlade product, SuperWorkstations, and SuperStorage systems with the latest Intel Xeon E5-2600/4600/2400 and E3-1200 v2 series processors. Supermicro also demonstrated integrated solutions in a SuperRack with their 10 GbE network switch and server management software.

Supermicro Shows Off Latest Server Solutions at Computex“At Computex, we highlighted our X9 generation solutions,” says Supermicro president and CEO Charles Liang. “Our latest products deliver highly scalable computing and storage solutions to our customers with 30 percent to 40 percent performance and efficiency gains across the board when compared to prior generation products.”

As the company enters into the second half of 2012, Supermicro says it is bringing innovative technologies to market that will further offset costs of future computing demands. For example, the company’s next generation Twin architecture, called FatTwin was also scheduled to be shown in Computex.

At the show, Supermicro demonstrated its latest energy efficient green server solutions. The 1U SYS-6017R-TDAF supports four hot-swap 3.5-inch SATA HDDs, and the 2U SYS-6027R-TDARF supports eight hot-swap 3.5-inch SATA HDDs. Both servers, based on Supermicro’s MBD-X9DRD-iF serverboard, are designed specifically for free-air cooled operation to help data centers achieve the lowest possible power usage effectiveness. These servers are interconnected through Supermicro’s new 52-port† SSE-G2252P 1G, Layer 2 Top-of-Rack Ethernet switch.
