SolarWinds MSP Launches Cloud-Based Malware Protection and Spam Filtering Solution

Called Mail Assure and announced during pre-day activities at the vendor’s Empower MSP conference in Orlando, the system acts as a protective layer for incoming and outgoing email.

SolarWinds MSP, a provider of IT service management solutions based in Durham, N.C., today announced the launch of SolarWinds Mail Assure, a cloud-based email malware protection and spam filtering solution that acts as a protective layer for incoming and outgoing email. The announcement is the opening salvo to the company’s Empower MSP Orlando conference running October 26-27.

SolarWinds Mail Assure combines a threat detection system continuously updated with input from over 2 million secure domains in 85-plus countries with spam and threat protection functionality engineered to shield users from email threats. Designed to act as a failsafe if a company’s primary email service goes down, the solution provides business continuity and user access to email flow.

According to John Pagliuca, general manager of SolarWinds MSP, layered security is one of the key macro trends and pillars the company is building around.

SolarWinds acquired Netherlands-based security and archiving vendor SpamExperts B.V. in August, with the intent of embedding SpamExperts’ solution, a robust threat intelligence engine backed by machine learning and heuristic analysis technology, in its MSP Mail product.

SpamExperts is “very scalable, very lightweight—a better experience than what my mail offering is today,” Pagliuca says. “That’s going to be another added pillar, a leg for us to stand on for the MSPs, as far as the security offering. And we’ll continue to look at and invest and increase our offering in the security part.”

According to the company, Mail Assure also allows users to:

  • Integrate with virtually any on-premises or cloud-based email service, including Microsoft Office 365 and Exchange
  • Brand the solution with their own logo and color scheme
  • Specify the location of servers within North America or Europe for regulatory compliancy
  • Use any web-connected device with responsive UI design
  • View detailed mail logs and reports
  • Search indexed archives for copying and compression of all inbound and outbound emails
  • Import existing archive data and export searched data to normal formats

“Even if customers have a primary layer of security, as with Microsoft Office 365, Mail Assure provides an additional layer of defense to prevent spam, virus, and ransomware attacks—providing users with increased reliability, email continuity, and top-of-the-line email security,” said Greg Lissy, vice president of product management for SolarWinds MSP, in a press statement.

Pre-day events for Empower MSP Orlando for invite-only attendees start today, with the full conference opening tomorrow.
