SolarWinds MSP Adds Network Device Monitoring to RMM Solution

The new functionality lets technicians track health, performance, and utilization information about switches, printers, routers, and firewalls through the same consolidated control panel they use to support servers and workstations.

SolarWinds MSP has added network device management to its cloud-based SolarWinds RMM solution.

The new Network Device Monitoring component provides health, performance, and utilization information about switches, printers, routers, and firewalls through the same consolidated control panel technicians use to support servers and workstations.

“MSPs must maintain visibility into an increasing list of elements of their customer’s environments in order to optimize their success,” said Greg Lissy, vice president of product management at Durham, N.C.-based SolarWinds MSP, in prepared remarks. “So the offerings we deliver are aimed at helping MSPs expand visibility into their customer’s devices, networks, users, or even into the efficiency of their own businesses.”

Leveraging network management expertise and product functionality from its parent company, SolarWinds Worldwide LLC, of Austin, Texas, is a strategic priority for SolarWinds MSP at present. In July, the company added NetPath, a SolarWinds-developed solution for troubleshooting and resolving connectivity-related performance issues impacting cloud-hosted solutions, to its SolarWinds N-central RMM system.

“Network Device Monitoring, NetPath, and other management technologies we have built into our platforms provide the visibility—and ultimately the efficiency—that keep an MSP competitive in the rapidly evolving marketplace we’re seeing today,” said Lissy today in his press statement.

Features like NetPath and now Network Device Monitoring are also competitive differentiators for SolarWinds MSP, according to Dave Sobel, the vendor’s senior director of MSP evangelism.

“The network is the core of everything now,” said Sobel in an interview with ChannelPro last month at SolarWinds MSP’s Empower partner conference in Scottsdale, Ariz. “You want a company that understands the network.”

IT management software vendor and SolarWinds MSP competitor Kaseya Ltd. also offers integrated network management capabilities with its RMM solution. Based on Traverse, Kaseya’s stand-alone network management solution, that component shipped in May.
