ScienceLogic Demos New Version of EM7 at Interop

The cloud and virtualization solutions provider uses the Interop Las Vegas forum to show off new “Dynamic Component Mapping” features.

Attendees at Interop Las Vegas this week were able to get a hands-on demo of ScienceLogic’s latest EM7 version, 7.1. The latest iteration of the IT operations and cloud management platform introduces Dynamic Component Mapping to help MSPs proactively manage virtualized structures and complex systems — VMware and Cisco Unified Computing System, for example — being deployed in modern distributed data centers.

ScienceLogic Inc. developed EM7 to help SMBs centrally manage heterogeneous physical, virtual, and cloud environments and easily incorporate new applications and generation technologies into their IT operations.

DYNAMIC COMPONENT MAPPING
Version 7.1’s new Dynamic Component Mapping automatically discovers, maps, and monitors all the components of an integrated system and the dynamic relationship between them. The feature is designed to help MSPs address the need to “maintain visibility into complex systems to ensure uptime of end-user services,” according to a ScienceLogic statement submitted to Channel Pro-SMB from Interop Las Vegas.

“The latest release of ScienceLogic EM7 extends our ability to help customers centrally manage dynamic virtual and cloud environments and easily add new technologies and architectures for one view into service delivery across an organization,” says ScienceLogic CEO David Link.

Dynamic Component Mapping discovers component devices from a single interface and generates a visual representation of the tree hierarchy. Furthermore, it enables context-sensitive performance and configuration policies to be applied to each component in the tree.

In addition, the ScienceLogic template-based approach to Dynamic Component Mapping enables SMBs and partners to modify or extend any aspect of the management themselves to support new features in target without having to wait for the vendor to develop new code.

SUPPORT FOR PUBLIC CLOUD VENDORS AND SERVICES
ScienceLogic EM7 also now supports public cloud vendors and services. Specifically, the latest version of EM7 adds support for customers to actively manage Amazon Web Services (AWS), GoGrid, and RackSpace cloud environments through their native APIs or via CloudKick’s monitoring service.

The support for public cloud vendors provides views into metrics that include instance inventory, CPU or network performance, operational status, security groups, and disk volumes as well as the estimated total operational cost for each AWS instance. This helps SMBs monitor their public cloud vendor’s performance and watch costs. It also helps them “ensure efficient utilization of the cloud resources, track and assess usage patterns to determine growth directions, and spot anomalous usage of the cloud infrastructure,” according to ScienceLogic.

AVAILABILITY
ScienceLogic EM7 version 7.1 is available immediately at no additional cost to existing customers. Pricing starts at $32,500 for an all-in-one appliance and $57,500 for the distributed version. ScienceLogic EM7 is also available via subscription.
