Pano Logic Expands Desktop Computing Platforms to Support Terminal Services and Simplify Cloud Migra

The Pano System for Cloud/Terminal Services 2.0 enables Pano Zero clients to work with most any server-hosted desktop computing solution.

Pano Logic, a provider of zero client desktop virtualization and ‘Desktop in the Cloud’ computing, has announced Pano System for Cloud/Terminal Services 2.0, which links cloud-based computing with legacy terminal services resources, easing migration to the cloud.

By expanding its platform compatibility to include terminal services, Pano Logic now supports three major computing platforms, all using a zero endpoint that contains no processor, operating system, or moving parts. IT organizations can migrate their users to a common Pano Zero Client endpoint architecture and then deliver a range of end-user desktops through the cloud while still providing access to legacy Windows applications.

Pano Logic’s core technology now enables Pano Zero Clients to function as endpoints for any form of server-hosted desktop – ranging from full, virtualized Windows desktops, to Microsoft and Citrix terminal services, and even to browser-based cloud desktops – and provides a migration path between them. The new software release also includes free enrollment in a cloud-based remote server management console called Pano Cloud portal. The portal enables IT managers to monitor and manage their Pano endpoints and cloud servers from any Internet-connected browser worldwide.

With Pano System for Cloud/Terminal Services 2.0, organizations that have experimented with thin clients can migrate from those environments to Pano Zero Clients, still using their RDP or XenApp investments.

The company’s Zero Clients are designed to support Pano Logic’s two main offerings. Pano System for VDI is an end-to-end, hardware and software virtual desktop solution best suited for users that require a full Windows desktop. Pano System for Cloud/Terminal Services is software for organizations moving to Web-based applications. It eliminates the need for a local operating system and central processing unit, delivering Web-based cloud desktops using Google’s Chrome browser.

Zero-Touch Management

The new release of Pano System for Cloud/Terminal Services 2.0 provides IT managers with new powers to manage and monitor their endpoints and servers from almost anywhere. Using the free Pano Cloud portal, authorized admins can monitor Pano Zero and Virtual Clients, managing desktop security and device settings via the portal’s management console. By moving management to the cloud, administrators now have the flexibility to deploy headless appliances throughout their organization and then manage them from anywhere.

Other software enhancements in the release include:

  • Expanded client profile options to improve endpoint security and flexibility.
  • New controls for end users to manage device settings.
  • Automated software update capabilities for Linux, Google Chrome and Pano components.
  • Updated Pano Virtual Client, which is used to repurpose PCs as zero clients, making it simpler to deploy with little or no IT resources.
